This morning, when I went to the Club Penguin homepage, http://www.clubpenguin.com/, I noticed there was a new button…

Yes, Disney bought Club Penguin… at first I was afraid that maybe Disney would change it a lot, similar to what Viacom has done to Neopets, for those of you who know about that. However, many articles on the Internet have stated otherwise.
First of all, there is the original announcement from the founders of Club Penguin themselves. It said that Disney and Club Penguin have become partners. It also says that the original creators will be staying, and they will still have their policy of no advertising.
(“As the site’s founders, we will continue to lead and guide Club Penguin, retaining control over the day-to-day operations and direction of the site while working closely with Disney to make Club Penguin the best it can be. In addition, we remain committed to our policy of allowing no advertising on the site.“, second to last paragraph)
Also, I wanted to see what other news sites had to say, so I just searched “club penguin and disney” on Google.
Here’s one of the articles that I found: Click! ^.^
It said that Disney actually BOUGHT Club Penguin, so… yeah, so much for that “partner” thing.
More from that article: Other than renaming the service “Disney’s Club Penguin,” Disney said it has no immediate plans to change Club Penguin’s operations, which will continue to run from Kelowna, Canada.
“Club Penguin is going to continue to exist as is,” Iger said during the company’s conference call to report quarterly earnings. “The experience will not change at all. We don’t intend to get in the way of that or do anything that would in any way have a negative impact on their business.”
Iger said Disney planned to integrate Club Penguin into other Disney businesses, promoting it on the Disney.com site and the Disney Channel, Radio Disney and the company’s theme parks.
So there you have it; I don’t really think Disney will take over Club Penguin and change it completely… but we will see in time. You never know.
Changes:
- Name: from “Club Penguin” to “Disney’s Club Penguin”
- Will be intergrated into Disney stuff like the Disney.com site, Disney Channel, Radio Disney, and its theme parks.. o.0
Well, just wanted to keep everyone updated on things. Also, Dude1t has posted his thoughts, too.
P.S. The Pin is at the Forest.
That’s all for now!
Waddle on!
